ESET NOD32 Receives Microsoft Windows Vista Antivirus Certification ICSA Labs Certifies NOD32 in Inaugural Program
SAN DIEGO – February 19, 2007 – ESET, the leader in proactive threat protection, today announced that ESET NOD32 Antivirus received antivirus certification from ICSA Labs for NOD32 v2.7 on the Microsoft Windows Vista platform (64-bit). This is the industry’s first anti-virus certification testing program for desktop/server anti-virus products designed for the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. To achieve ICSA Labs Anti-Virus Certification, products must meet all criteria in the desktop/server anti-virus detection module and, if selected, the anti-virus cleaning module. The desktop/server detection module is targeted at anti-virus products designed to protect individual desktops, laptops, and/or servers of residential users and organizations from self-replicating malicious code infection. Products must demonstrate that they have the capability to detect viruses on-demand, detect and prevent the replication of viruses on-access, report no false positives and log the results of virus detection attempts. The anti-virus cleaning criteria ensure that products remove in-the-wild viruses from infected files and sectors and are able to remove all viruses without adversely affecting the data or functionality that existed before becoming infected.
“ESET is pleased to have NOD32 as one of the first products certified under the inaugural Windows Vista Anti-Virus Certification Program,” said Rick Moy, vice president of marketing, ESET, LLC. “NOD32 is again at the forefront, protecting users on the industry’s latest operating system from a wide range of malware.”
High-performance, low-impact ESET NOD32 Antivirus software offers consumers and businesses comprehensive protection in a product designed to automatically update behind-the-scenes without impacting other applications, so users always have the most current protection available. ESET NOD32 Antivirus version 2.7 utilizes ThreatSense® technology, a sophisticated detection system based on advanced heuristics, to proactively identify previously unknown viruses, Trojans, spyware, rootkits and phishing attacks in real time. ThreatSense is built into NOD32’s single scanning engine to provide comprehensive protection so users do not need to rely on additional point solutions for spyware and adware protection.
