ESET One of Two Companies To Secure "Advanced+" Rating from AV-Comparatives Security Leader Only Company to Generate Zero False Positives
SAN DIEGO – December 1, 2007 – ESET, the leader in proactive threat protection, was named one of only two companies to capture the prestigious “Advanced+” rating from AV-Comparatives, an independent research outlet that tests antivirus software. The “Advanced+” rating is granted to antivirus providers who proactively detect new or unknown threats, without mistakenly identifying safe files as malicious. ESET is able to achieve these industry-leading results due to the solution’s ThreatSense® technology, an advanced heuristics engine that enables proactive detection of malware not covered by even the most frequently updated signature-based products.
Unlike traditional solutions, ESET NOD32 Antivirus decodes and analyzes executable code in real-time, using an emulated environment. By allowing malware to execute in a secure virtual world, ESET is able to clearly differentiate between benign files and even the most sophisticated and cleverly-disguised malware.
Anti-Virus Comparative No. 16 tested the proactive detection capabilities of 17 different antivirus solutions. AV-Comparatives assigns a three-level ranking system consisting of “Standard,” “Advanced” and “Advanced+.” Products receiving the "Standard" level are understood to be products with a good proactive, on-demand detection rate; "Advanced" a very good proactive on-demand detection rate and "Advanced+" an excellent proactive, on-demand detection rate — the honor bestowed upon ESET.
