Ernst & Young Names ESET’s Miroslav Trnka Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 in Slovakia Technology Pioneer Wins Inaugural Award in Slovak Republic
SAN DIEGO - March 8, 2007 - ESET, the leader in proactive threat protection, today announced that Miroslav Trnka, co-owner and chief technology officer, became the first person to earn the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Slovak Republic. Mr. Trnka won the coveted award in this first competition in Slovakia based on his technical innovation and proven leadership of antivirus software company ESET, where he has served as CTO since 1987. Mr. Trnka will represent Slovakia at the World Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Monte Carlo, Monaco in June 2007. “This award recognizes more than just figures and numbers and at its heart celebrates interesting and successful people. Miroslav Trnka met the criteria for a true entrepreneur and impressed the jury so much that he was awarded the Slovak Entrepreneur of the Year 2006,” said Miroslav Rihák, chairman of the jury. “Mr. Trnka’s story is one of a good idea followed by a unique product, which became a real spring-board for the founding of a notable and respectful global company.” “I am honored to be the inaugural winner in Slovakia, and I see it as recognition of the long-standing ambition of my team at ESET and our global partners.
