Threats in May: Playstation Breach – Password Reset Attack Looming; INF/Autorun – Top-ranking Global and European Malware

INF/Autorun, according to the statistical information from ThreatSense.Net, yet again wins the spot of the top most ranked global threat in May 2011 with 6.58 percent of occurrence. The second most wide-spread malware globally turned to be, for several months now, Win32/Conficker with a 3.61 percent share, followed by yet another old-timer Win32/PSW.OnlineGames with 1.92%.

Global Threat Statistics: Win32/Conficker Returns to No. 1

Based on statistical information collected by ESET ThreatSense.Net in the month of January, Win32/Conficker (5.38%) has moved back to the first position as the top threat globally. The second most frequently occurring piece of malware is INF/Autorun (5.30%), followed by Win32/PSW.OnLineGames (2.17%).

ESET begins phasing out server products based on the ESET NOD32 Antivirus 2.7

As of today - February 1, 2011 - ESET will begin phasing out server products based on the ESET NOD32 Antivirus 2.7 engine. The server software will be removed from the ESET website and will no longer be sold. Customers will continue to be protected with signature updates until February 1, 2012.
