Selected viruses, spyware, and other threats: sorted alphabetically

This is one of the largest families of viruses; it has several tens of members. One of the reasons of such a large number of variants was publication of the virus source text in a book on computer viruses.
These viruses are in most cases simple, non-resident, direct action COM infectors. Their length varies from 318 up to 5305 bytes. Some variants are encrypted. The viruses contain the string *.COM which is used to search for a program suitable for infecting. Specific variants contain various text strings.

Vienna.648
This is a classical variant, called also Vienna.Standart. It marks the infected file by setting the number of seconds at the time of file origin to 62. Some of the attacked files will be damaged as the virus writes to the file beginning a jump to a random address. In case of the variant Vienna.Reboot it is jump to the cold start of the system. Files damaged in this way cannot be reconstructed.

Vienna.534
This variant, called also W13, is interesting by the method of marking already infected files. Unlike most of the family members it does not set the number of seconds at the time of file origin to 62 but it alters the month of the file origin to the value of 13.

This is a Slovak mutation of Vienna and it is also proved by the text:

Gympel je tycka.
(Meaning: High school is a throw up.)

Vienna.Violator.5305
This is the longest variant of the Vienna family in our collection. In a file attacked by this variant the following text is seen:
