Ibex

This is a simple stealth boot virus. When an attempt is made to load the system from an infected diskette the virus decreases the DOS usable memory by one kilobyte, attacks the hard disk’s MBR and hooks the interrupt INT 13h. Then it tries to attack all diskettes that are not write-protected. Upon an attempt to read the boot sector of an infected diskette or the MBR of a computer no alternation can be seen in their contents if the virus is active in memory. The destructive routine of the virus gets activated on the seventh day in a month and it causes overwriting of media which the virus attacks (a diskette or a hard disk).
