Viruses of this family come from Sweden, a country with traditionally strong background for authors of viruses. They are multi-partite, encrypted, parasitic COM infectors. They both hook the interrupts INT 13h, INT 1Ch and INT 21h. Infection takes place when files are executed and opened for an access to the file. When a diskette is read the boot sector is infected (if the diskette is not write-protected). When an infected file is executed also the hard disk’s MBR is infected.
Junkie.A is a 1027 bytes long virus. It is harmless. In its encrypted body are the following texts:
DrW-3 Dr White - Sweden 1994 Junkie Virus - Written in Malmo...M01D
Junkie.B is 1308 bytes long and has the following text in its body:
Bad Junkie I want job
