Kampana

These are dangerous stealth boot viruses. When an attempt is made to load the system from an infected diskette the virus decreases the amount of accessible memory for DOS by 1 KB and hooks the interrupt INT 13h. Upon access to a diskette that is not write-protected the virus tries to infect it. Its stealth ensures that the change in the MBR or in the boot sector is not visible while the virus is active in the memory. The destructive activity works as follows: the virus Kampana.A overwrites a part of the hard disk contents after the number of 400 loadings of the system is reached (333 with the virus Kampana.B). After destroying the contents of the first hard disk the virus writes the following text on the screen:

Campana ANTI-TELEFONICA (Barcelona)

and continues by the next disk (if there is one). Moreover, Kampana.B contains in the body the encoded text:
