Securing Our eCity Promotes Cyber Security Awareness with Free Educational Events For San Diego

Securing Our eCity, a public initiative designed to counter the rapidly-growing wave of cybercriminal activity, announced today that it will host a series of one hour educational seminars to teach local San Diego residents about cybercrime and how to protect themselves. Spearheaded by ESET, the leader in proactive threat protection, the Securing Our eCity free seminars will take place at educational facilities throughout the San Diego area during the weeks of May 25 and June 1, 2009.

The Securing Our eCity initiative was developed as a way to educate and protect consumers and businesses from the growing threat of cybercrime. The regional events will include discussions about online risk factors, including today’s five biggest online threats, the various ways computer users can fall victim to cybercrime and real-life San Diego cybercrime case studies. Attendees will also receive tips on how to stay safe online and will learn about technologies and tools that help reduce and/or prevent cybercrime.
