Denzuko

This is a group of rather extended boot viruses. When system is loaded from an infected diskette the virus installs itself into memory and occupies the interrupts INT 13h and INT 9h. At reboot it will write text DENZUKO in graphic mode and simulate loading he system. The virus attacks diskettes boot sectors. If it finds the virus Brain in them, it removes it and changes the label “(c) Brain” to “Y C 1 E R P”. This string is used for radio calls in Indonesia. The virus can damage data on diskettes, as it formats a supplementary, 41st side, which was not used by DOS with diskettes of 360 KB capacity. With diskettes of higher capacity this side is within the data area and by means of formatting data saved on it will be destroyed. In bodies of specific variants various texts are found.
