Selected viruses, spyware, and other threats: sorted alphabetically



This virus was widely spread in Hungary at the end of June and at the beginning of July 1997. The reason was that the file on the cover CD of the Hungarian version of the magazine CHIP was infected by it. This is a resident, encrypted COM and EXE infector with effective code length of 937 bytes. It infects suitable files when they are executed. If an infected file is executed on September 8th the virus will overwrite the first 16 sectors on the C: disk. In addition the virus also announces the following message:
