6 Ways to Be More #CyberAware This Month

Next story

It’s our favorite time of year. Leaves are starting to turn, pumpkins are appearing on doorsteps and cybersecurity is top of mind. Why? October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month and ESET is once again proud to champion this collaborative effort to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online.

How can you get involved? Here are six ways members of the cybersecurity industry, the San Diego community and beyond can join in.

1. Attend a Twitter chat. Have a question about cybersecurity, whether in your business or your home? The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) has a chat for that. They’re holding a series of Twitter chats on all aspects of cybersecurity using #ChatSTC. The first chat is today, October 1, at noon PST/3 p.m. EST. We’ll be there along with top experts and brands from around the country to share key online safety concepts and discuss how we can create a safer, more secure and more trusted Internet for everyone. Join us!

2. Follow this blog for easy cybersecurity tips anyone can use. The Internet is teeming with bad guys getting more sophisticated by the nanosecond. All month long here on ESET’s blog, you’ll find real-world, actionable tips from the people who live and breathe cybersecurity—your ESET team.

3. Join us, San Diego: In town? Join ESET for these NCSAM events:

ESET at TEDxSanDiego: The fight to create a safer Internet for all is at a crossroads. Take a journey with ESET Sr. Security Researcher Stephen Cobb into “Ones and Zeroes: A Tale of Two Futures” at TEDxSanDiego on October 17. Learn more about the event or register here.

Securing Our eCity CyberFest: In the cybersecurity business? Join SOeC and CyberTECH for CyberFest 2015 to discuss our industry’s most important issues and network with other cyber  experts, business owners and technologists. Learn more or register here.

4. Calling all families: Stay tuned the week of Oct. 11. This week is all about empowering your family and community to stay protected while connected, and ESET has partnered with NCSA to help out. Follow @ESET and @staysafeonline now to be the first to know, and save the date for that week’s Twitter chat, “Digital Parenting: Keep Your Connected Family Safe,” at noon PST/3 p.m. EST on Oct. 15—we’ve got some big things planned.

5. Follow the experts. The more we all understand this connected world we live in, the more we can help keep each other safe. Follow these accounts to stay up to date on breaking cybersecurity news, how-tos and more.
