Dedicated website will offer guidance on privacy policies, emerging cybersecurity threats and general best practices

San Diego, Calif., October 28, 2020ESET, a global leader in cybersecurity, today announced the launch of Data Security Guide, a new SMB online hub to help owners and IT administrators stay up to date on new privacy and cybersecurity regulations, technologies, employee training and emerging threats.

Featuring a combination of articles, guides and first-hand experiences, Data Security Guide includes three content pillars:

  • Policies First: Covers new privacy and cybersecurity regulations, how to make sense of administration and legal requirements, and certifications tips
  • Protection Matters: Features IT technologies and trends, tips to stay ahead of hackers, new threats facing SMBs, and first-hand stories from entrepreneurs.
  • In-House Prevention: Includes content to educate and empower employees, new tools that help SMBs prevent data loss, and employee training tips.

“Small businesses don’t often have the resources to help them navigate complicated policies such as those that have recently emerged from the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA),” said Charles Van Vechten, senior director of marketing of ESET North America. “When we observed many small businesses downloading our CCPA guide last year, we realized there was a greater opportunity to educate small business owners and their IT administrators on privacy and data protection, particularly as SMBs are often the target of data breaches.”

ESET is launching regionalized online hubs around the world to support SMBs in the regions and languages in which they do business. With 37% of SMBs suffering a financial loss after a data breach, 25% filing for bankruptcy and 10% going out of business, according to the National Cyber Security Alliance, these regional SMB content hubs will equip entrepreneurs with the recommendations and guidance needed to better protect their company’s networks, data and employees.

SMBs in North America can subscribe to receive quarterly newsletters from Data Security Guide here: https://datasecurityguide.eset.com/en-us.
