ESET’s free cybersecurity awareness training program now gamified

Next story

This week we observe the 2018 National Small Business Week (April 29-May 5) to celebrate the great small business that make up our nation; there is also a valiant effort from nonprofits and private companies to provide resources for business across the U.S. to help them thrive and succeed.

IT security firm ESET is committed to help businesses stay protected from cyber threats with its free on-demand cybersecurity training program that business can give to their own employees. Already utilized by over 10,000 people since its launch in May 2017, ESET is now offering the latest version of ESET Cybersecurity Awareness Training with new interactive and “gamified” elements.

The latest version is completely revamped with interactive and gamified components that immerse employees to help important cybersecurity principles stick. The story follows an IT professional whose imagination takes him or her on an adventure as a noble samurai protecting the city from attack; a secret spy agent protecting valuable secrets; and more, to learn safe habits and challenge security assumptions.

In 2017, an ESET survey found that 30 percent of respondents have never received any form of cyber security training or education in the workplace and that they were still missing this critical layer of security. Also, smaller businesses often don’t have funds to purchase cybersecurity training for their employees, which can be a pricey endeavor. What’s more, small businesses are often subject to the same regulatory compliance as larger businesses, and cyber training is needed in order to meet that compliance. Compliance for small business should be especially top of mind given the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) law that businesses need to be compliant with by May 25, 2018. ESET is trying to improve cyber education accessibility with its training program, while making it fun for employees.

Since the free ESET Cybersecurity Awareness Training launched in May 2017, over 10,000 people have attended the training, and over 9,000 have earned ESET’s certificate of completion.

The ESET Cybersecurity Awareness Training is available to anyone, anytime, free at eset.com/us/cybertraining.
