ESET to Highlight Threat Intelligence, Android Ransomware and Data Privacy at Mobile World Congress 2017

ESET, Europe-based leader in IT security, will highlight its latest products for business and mobile platforms, its latest research, and business strategy relevant to EU data privacy regulation at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona February 27 – March 2, 2017. As in previous years, the ESET booth will be located in Hall 5, booth B05; detailed information about the presence of ESET at the Congress is available at our dedicated website.

ESET Threat Intelligence, one of our newly launched services, will be highlighted at the Congress. The service predicts and proactively notifies customers of real-time threats targeting their businesses and enables greater flexibility when adapting to a rapidly changing threat landscape. Targeted attacks, advanced persistent threats (APTs), zerodays and botnet activities are all part of Threat Intelligence analysis. Additionally, the service is available to security teams of Enterprise companies as well as Security Operations Centers to analyze specific malware and provide intelligence on their functionality and impact.

In our latest research, mobile threats, specifically encrypting and lock-screen ransomware for the Android platform, take center stage. ESET researchers will release a white paper with the latest data on the topic, with ESET Chief Technology Officer, Juraj Malcho personally presenting on the issue at the Congress.

“Every year we see the gradual increase of this threat, across all platforms in general and mobile ones specifically. And still, users don’t protect themselves properly, nor do they pay enough attention to responsible online behavior,” says ESET CTO Malcho.

For a sneak-peek of the new research, readers are invited to check out the relevant blogposts located on the ESET research and news portal WeLiveSecurity.comAndroid ransomware spreads further, with new methods in its toolbox, Security by design for mobile device manufacturers and Indirect damage: Why service providers should care about customer security.

Another main point of focus for ESET in Barcelona will be the European data privacy regulation. We will present findings from an ESET-commissioned survey of IT decision makers from several European countries on data protection and European GDPR regulation conducted by IDC.

“Data Protection is a key element of EU regulation which makes it mandatory for businesses to adequately protect personal data. ESET products and technology are well-equipped to address core aspects of these requirements,” says Palo Balaj, Head of ESET EMEA Business Development, who will also be present at the ESET booth.

Among other ESET leadership present at the Congress, Chief Business Officer Ignacio Sbampato and EMEA Sales and Marketing Director Miroslav Mikus, will be available for meetings.

For business attendees, ESET CTO Juraj Malcho will be presenting the latest security trends at ESET Targeted Networking Event on Tuesday February 28 from 16.00-18.00, at the MWC Networking Garden 3/5.
