ESET goes for gold in third-party performance validation tests

Next story

Independent tests of antimalware software are so important in the cybersecurity industry to ensure solutions live up to their promises. ESET recently received high praise from not just one but two independent testing organisations – commending ESET’s low rate of false positives and low system impact across ESET’s security solutions for both Windows consumers and Mac business users.

ESET Internet Security takes top spot in AV-Comparatives awards

Every year, AV-Comparatives evaluates the best scoring IT security products and awards Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes across five different categories following its public main-test series of the prior year. ESET wowed this year’s testers – so much so that we were awarded the Gold prize for Performance and False Positive Tests.

When it comes to AV testing, measuring reliability is just as important as detection. Just one False Positive can require huge resources from engineering and support teams to resolve the issues. What’s more, it can even lead to important data loss or system unavailbility. Getting it right every time is critical. And that’s exactly what ESET does. Following extensive false-positive testing over the year, AV-Comparatives confirmed that ESET had zero false alarms in all tests in 2017. This was something no other security solution tested was able to do and, consequently, ESET received the Gold award.

ESET Internet Security was also recognised – following two tests over the year – for its low impact on system performance while conducting tasks – once again taking home the Gold award in this category. AV-Comparatives commented saying that they found the solution to be, “very easy to use, thanks to the excellent user interface and a self-configuring firewall”. High-praise indeed!

“Impeccable protection” from ESET Endpoint Security for macOS

While they may not want to believe it, Mac users are increasingly becoming prime targets for hackers. Malware is growing exponentionally, even on macOS, and in the business world, industry experts are seeing a rise in the number of Advanced Persistant Threats targeting Macs in the enterprise environment.

Putting safety first should be, therefore, increasingly at front of mind for Mac users. Finding a solution that meets their security needs without compromising system performance is crucial. When AV-TEST evaluated ESET Endpoint Security for macOS, it was clear to see that it lived up to a Mac user’s expectations.

Among the solutions tested for corporate users, ESET achieved perfect detection – identifying and blocking all 514 macOS threats. In addition, the testers were impressed by ESET’s low rate of false positives and its behaviour towards ‘potentially unwanted applications’ (PUAs). In fact, ESET filtered out nearly 700 PUAs between 98 and 100 percent. Overall, the AV-TEST Institute remarked the protection provided by ESET is nothing short of “impeccable”.
