Ondrej Kubovic

Security Awareness Specialist

Education: Bc. in Journalism, Master's Degree in Political Science

Highlights of your career: Being part of the Locked Shields 2025 team, co-founding and leading the ESET Ninja Cybersecurity Program, and serving as one of ESET's main media and conference speakers. From my past journalistic career, the thrill of going undercover to write about the selection process for the Slovak special forces.

Position and history at ESET: 10 years as a Security Awareness Specialist

What malware do you hate the most? As Hulk would say: 'All malware BAD!' But the worst is probably the one my family or friends download—and I have to deal with.

Favorite activities: Time with my family, gaming, making good coffee and drinking it, boxing workouts, freeride snowboarding

Golden rule for cyberspace? If something looks too good to be true, it probably is.

When did you get your first computer and what kind was it? Around 1994, a 286 with MS-DOS preinstalled. There was no monitor, so we could only use it when no one wasn't watching the TV.

Favorite computer game/activity: Mostly strategy games such as Warcraft II, Starcraft, Settlers, C&C series, RPGs like the Baldur's Gate, or Diablo, and basically anything with an open world.

What titles have you worked on in the past? All of ESET's data-based Threat Reports, most of ESET's AI-related articles and whitepapers, and I remember an odd story about TeslaCrypt shutting down and giving us all the decryption keys.
