ESET Achieves Another Milestone: More Than 1000 Employees Globally

Next story

ESET, the pioneer in proactive cyber-protection, has recently achieved a milestone of more than one thousand employees working across the world − at the company headquarters in Bratislava, its regional offices, and R&D centers.  And this number is expected to grow even further during this year also thanks to a recently launched JoinESET.com campaign. Its aim is to attract new talent for technology and coding positions with special focus on the markets in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland.
ESET has reached the 1000 number after 23 years of existence. It was back in 1992 when the company’s three co-founders Miroslav Trnka, Peter Paško and Rudolf Hrubý had hired their first employee, Miriam Hirnerová, who is still with the company.

“At that time, I would not believe, that one day our products could be purchased by customers in more than 180 countries,” she says.

ESET employee count has grown continually and steadily. The company’s tenth employee was hired in 1995 and one hundredth in 2006. Already in 2010, the company has reached 500 employees worldwide. This year, the plan is to boost this number even further with more job openings in the Bratislava HQ, malware research lab in Prague, Czech Republic, as well as the research lab in Krakow, Poland.

Also of help could be the recently launched www.joineset.com website hosting the online game Botwarz, a hidden puzzle CrackMe and other special tasks for programmers.

The ultimate goal of the Botwarz game is to control various cars and try to damage those of the competitors. Once they take up the challenge, the participants can write a code that follows a thought-through strategy or can opt to solve the problem directly.
By programming specific commands, they can either choose to avoid dangerous players or eliminate them, which leaves ample space for interesting tactics. Yet another challenge may appeal to those who are skilled in reverse engineering and involves analyzing code with hidden functionality, a method ESET employs to reveal hidden functionalities contained in the malware it intercepts. These same methods are also used for analysis and optimization of the quality and to ensure the reliability of our detection.
What’s more, there are additional special tasks available on the JoinEset.com  site for coders who like to analyze big data, web technology or databases.
