ESET Online Scanner allows to perform scans without the need to install security software
ESET launched its new version of Online Scanner that is available for users free of charge. Compared to its predecessor, the scanner comes with significantly enhanced settings, anti-rootkit technology and compatibility with alternative web browsers.
All infiltrations and infected files intercepted by the scan are moved into the quarantine where they no longer pose any threat to the user‘s computer. In addition, quarantined files can be restored or deleted permanently. The new version of ESET Online Scanner reliably identifies and displays antivirus software installed on the computer being scanned informing the user that it may affect the performance and quality of the scan.

According to Michal Vidoman, ESET Product Manager who oversaw the product launch, the new version of ESET Online Scanner was subjected to several months of rigorous testing in phases beta and release candidate. The testing is to ensure flawless functioning and a positive user experience. "By making the product available free of charge, we are in essence first aid whenever the user has qualms about the security status of the workstation he/she is using. It comes especially handy when working on an unfamiliar workstation, such as in a public space," adds Vidoman.
