What is the difference between ESET Online Scanner and ESET NOD32 Antivirus/ESET Smart Security?
ESET Online Scanner is an application which works via a certain web browser and is able to remove infiltrations from your computer. It is not capable of protecting your computer against emerging viruses and threats. Moreover, ESET Online Scanner is meant to provide the user with the oportunity to check the actual condition of the computer being used at home or somewhere else (f.e. public computer in internet cafe, school etc.). ESET NOD32 Antivirus/ESET Smart Security is a stand alone application from ESET providing comprehensive protection against computer infiltrations with a broad variety of customizable features to ensure customer satisfaction combined with ease of use.
Since the new ESET Online Scanner is in public beta phase, it is not recommended to install it on computers performing critical tasks. The full version will be available during the first quarter of 2009.
