Record-breaking VB100% Awarded along with Highest AV-Comparatives Accolade

Thus far, the year 2009 has proved to be successful for ESET. The company has secured the highest possible accolades in two of the most prestigious Antivirus tests - the British-based Virus Bulletin and Austrian-based AV-Comparatives.

Virus Bulletin

The former test compares security software on the platform Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2, while the latter focuses on the on-demand testing of leading Antivirus products. The Virus Bulletin traditionally gives its VB100% Award to products which demonstrate exceptional performance in the detection of malware, including worms, or polymorphic viruses, while registering minimum false positives.

The testing that was carried out on a Linux platform, primarily used by business consumers, has confirmed the high degree of reliability of ESET solutions. According to the VB editor John Hawes, "as usual for ESET false positives were absent despite the product’s strong heuristics and the set of WildList samples presented no problems, thus ESET continues its excellent run of success with another VB100 Award and a performance worthy of respect.“

ESET‘s VB100% February 2009 award is its record, 54th recognition of this kind. Having won its first VB100% award in 1998, ESET leads the industry in the overall number of VB100% awards.

AV-Comparatives

For 2009, AV-Comparatives has subjected to testing a total of 17 well-known and quality antivirus products. The first test held this year compared the performance and capabilities of the entered solutions in the on-demand scanning category (scanning initiated by the user).

The results of the test show that only 4 out of 17 tested products achieved the highest possible Advanced+ ranking due to the high demands placed in terms of high levels of detection effectiveness of a broad range of malware, while keeping false alarms to minimum. ESET‘s NOD32 Antivirus 3 has ranked among this leading category. The full version of the AV-Comparatives report is available at: avcomparatives.org/images/stories/test/ondret/avc_report21.pdf
