ESET®, the global leader in proactive digital protection, today announced its support and participation in the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) San Diego Scholarship Award Ceremony, held at the Hilton Mission Valley in San Diego. The company awarded $10,000 in scholarship funds to two recent high-school graduates to support their studies in the fields of science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) in higher education.

Ms. Melinda Wang received the ESET Sponsored $8,000 College Scholarship. Melinda graduated from Torrey Pines High School in June with a GPA of 4.55 and an ACT score of 36. Melinda will attend the University of Pennsylvania in the Fall and intends to major in Mathematics and Economics. Recently she was declared a Presidential Scholar, which is the highest academic honor given to high school students (and typically awarded to only one male and one female student from each state). Melinda received her Medallion at a ceremony held in the White House a short time ago. The ESET-sponsored $8,000 Scholarship award is made yearly to a San Diego County student who is pursuing a degree in STEM at a four-year degree-granting college or university.
Ms. Hannah Eherenfeldt graduated from Francis Parker High School in June with a GPA of 4.40. She is planning to attend Tulane University in the Fall and major in Biomedical Engineering. She was presented with the ESET Sponsored Buck Bragunier $2,000 Leadership Scholarship. The Buck Bragunier Leadership Scholarship was established to honor Buck’s memory and unique contributions to the San Diego Chapter of AFCEA, following his 20 plus years of dedication to the organization and the Greater San Diego military community.
