The recent cybersecurity news highlights a concerning trend where companies are experiencing data breaches due to known or previously fixed vulnerabilities. In one instance, a breach affecting over 30 million customers was linked to a software vulnerability that had been patched just a week before the attack. Despite criticisms of negligence in cybersecurity practices, the complexity of applying patches across large enterprises and smaller organizations is acknowledged. According to the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, vulnerability exploitation ranks as the third most common method for attackers to breach organizations.
